This workshop focuses on nourishing the body, mind, heart, and spirit. Likely the most important thing you do for yourself all year; treat your body like the temple it is. You will learn how to embrace yourself and your health in this powerful and fun retreat.
Having a positive image of your body means having a positive image of yourself. This is directly tied to self-esteem and self-confidence. A positive body image exists when we have a realistic perception of our bodies and we enjoy them just as they are- not as they might be after we lose 10 lbs or go down a dress size! Positive body image involves understanding that healthy attractive bodies come in many shapes and sizes, and that physical appearance says very little about our character or value as a person.
It is our birthright to know ecstasy, serenity, wholeness, and unbridled joy. When we let go of culturally imposed inhibitions and allow the freedom that is our true nature to shine through, these feelings take us beyond how good, beautiful, successful, or lovable we think we are.
This 3 part workshop includes:
Bodysex: Taught by famed sexologist, Betty Dodson, for over 40 years, The Joyful Self Love Institute is now offering the same signature Betty Dodson Bodysex Workshop on the West Coast. Embrace yourself, ditch body shame, and celebrate pleasure.
In the Bodysex portion of our retreat, we will focus on overcoming negative body image and pleasure anxiety through education and experiential learning. Because our society trivializes sex and shames women for our sexual desires, we often know little about our own bodies. And we deny the importance of our sexual selves – how often have you said “I don’t need to orgasm”, or “I don’t care that much about sex”? We put others needs and priorities ahead of our own, feeling guilty about spending time and energy on ourselves. Body shame plays a role in this too, as it restricts access to full self-expression. This is why taking a Bodysex workshop is so transformative. During this portion of the retreat, we will:
Discover and empower our sexual selves
Educate ourselves about our anatomy and revel in the diversity of our bodies
Open to healing and nurturing in the safety and sanctity of sisterhood – this is incredibly powerful
Practice and celebrate masturbation – the heart of all sexual learning
Enjoy massage
This portion of our retreat is taught by Amy Weissfeld.
An unabashed hedonist, Amy’s life goal is to empower women to enjoy the pleasure of their own bodies and to heal body shame. We each have the power to transform ourselves into healthier, authentic and loving beings. Tapping into our sexual power and letting go of culturally induced body shame and repression are crucial steps, and Amy enjoys guiding women along the path she herself has stumbled upon.

Savoring your health while inspiring your palate

Annie’s greatest passion is inspiring folks to return to their kitchens in the spirit of preparing healthy food with and for their families sourced by their own gardens or local organic farmers.
The Power of Movement
Yoga, movement, and healing go hand-in hand. In this workshop, we look to movement to assist our spiritual cleansing and rebirth. We aren’t working out per se, but rather connecting with our bodies and coming home to ourselves. This is an integral part of our sexual liberation and transformation.
Movement creates the space in our minds necessary to bring us back in touch with the natural intelligence of our bodies, and ultimately with each other, our partners and loved ones.
The continued practice of yoga will lead you to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being at one with your environment.
